Ek is oop ‘n groot “Design Thinking” mission vir die afgelope paar maande. As ek wou, sou ek one time by die d.school aansluit in stanford. Nou, ek kry die idee dat as ek praat van die Design Thinking dat ander mense dink ek bedoel design soos ontwerp op Photoshop en Illustrator. En dit is nie wat ek in gedagte het as ek dit bedoel nie…
die d.school is:
Stanford University is creating a bold new center for design. The center is intended to advance interdisciplinary research and teaching, place Stanford at the epicenter of the design field, and strengthen the connection between the university and industry.

ok peoples… it is happening! NextD have finally decided to update anything on their site.
ok, but what is NextD you ask?
damn plebs….
NextDesign Leadership Institute and the next design movement were
launched in 2002 by GK VanPatter and Elizabeth Pastor as an experiment
in innovation acceleration.We wondered if it might be possible for a small team of practicing designers
to help speed the rate of adaptation, by graduate design education, to
the radical events unfolding at the leading edge of the marketplace, that
are impacting design leadership today. We optimistically guessed that
it might be possible and if it wasn’t, finding out seemed like interesting
research! To undertake that experiment, we created the NextD initiative
and the NextDesign Leadership Institute. read more

ok, ek belowe hierdie is die laaste post wat ek maak vir ‘n tydjie oor religion (alhoewel dit so moer lekker is).
ek reken Jesus was eintlik net ‘n moerse goeie inventor, want check hierdie uit:

ok, ek is nou solidly verlief op my blogging poster helper dingetjie: Performancing. dit is net ongelooflik. ek het twee keer gehad wat my simpel stupid firefox browser crash of stall vir een of ander onverklaarbare rede, wat die Performancing ding net my posts gehou het. net soos dit! wow! ek kon dadelik net weer post!

Something that has irked me for atleast the 3 to 4 to 5 years that I am spending my time at Stellenbosch University is that there is an extremely low level of technological literacy, or what I like to call geekiness. There simply aren’t enough geeks around. But what does this matter?
Sure, basically everyone knows how to use WebCT, and maybe check their e-mail once a week or so, but there are very few people who would take the time to get to know new technology better, and I’m specifically thinking of Web 2.0 kind of internet applications. How many students have a Flickr account? How many students are on Myspace? (i was actually quite surprised when I started browsing on a friends Myspace and stumbled upon a whole sub-culture at CL, ok, it might have the same poenks I’m talking about in my fokof posting, but they were still there!) How many people use RSS feeds? Who has a LinkedIn account? how many people are on MSN, Yahoo, or GoogleTalk? How many people have a blog? how many people know what a blog IS?
It bothers me because i use about 70% -90% of those apps. Given, i am a geek, i have MSN on my cellphone, but why don’t other people have it and use it? i’d love it if my default SMS program was MSN and not the clumsy SMS writer i have. I’d love to be able to know what people did over the weekends by looking at their flickr accounts (flickr is apparently a bit dated!). But people have a very low uptake on new technology.
Take Urpu for example.

Urpu is a MSN messenger style program that i was very excited about. It’s a way for lots of people to be in contact with each other quickly. but its adoption rate has been quite slow. It’s a similar case to LinkedIn. at the moment i have about 52 Links, but only 5-10 of those links actually have other links as well. which is sort of the point. what does it help me or you if you only have me as a link? the idea is to grow your network and nurture your profile. if people would only realise the amazing potential that these apps have when they are used properly it would make things immensly easier.
once i get it figured out how to put screenshots up quickly this blogging thing is going to be a breeze.

Die universiteit is juis ‘n plek waar mens moet kan eksperimenteer met nuwe idees, en ek dink hierdie is een van hulle.
