First offline test posting met Qumana

Ok, so hierdie sal nou dan dien as my eerste toets vir offline posting.

Arg. dit wil nou nie ‘n screen shot in sit nie. ag so what.

elkgeval. dit werk okerig.

update:

don’t use performancing

AAARGGHH!!! WHAT THE FUCKK!!!!!

I just finished quite an extensive blog post on the local coverage of the Cape Town strike, with referencing and everything, and then Firefox died on me. Performancing did not save the post. From now on i hate firefox, but i am too entrenched in it. I fucking hate this. this is the second time that it has happened.

the strange thing is, i’m posting this using performancing. wtf.

test post

this is a test post to see if things are still working…

eh?

jy gaan nie sommer daai in New York Times kry nie.

Die een artikel deur Andrea Ketterinham, getiteld “Blowing the lid off the blogosphere” (in ‘n skewed font) is suppose om die vraag te vra “Are blogs a dumbing down device in an age that celebrates the mind-numbing mundane” nie een keer in die hele artikel word daar enigsins aan hierdie vraag geraak nie. kom ek switch na engels. The main gist of the article points out criticle moments in the growth of the blogosphere (9/11 and The Israeli journalists’ blog) but completely fails to actually analyse the importance of blogs in events such as the Hurrincane Katrina in New Orleans and the tsunamis in aggregating aid and relief efforts. Similarly, possibly my favourite blog, BoingBoing, isn’t mentioned. any person scanning the blogosphere who is worth their salt would have something to say about BoingBoing. BoingBoing has been seminal in many of the internet phenomena. It’s also a very good resource for articles exactly pertaing to the issue of citizen journalism. their coverage of the London bombings was brilliant, specifically focusing on the way that big media handled the citizen-taken photos underground. there is a cool article on the importance of boingboing in the real world, i just haven’t bookmarked the dang thing!

another that gets me, for some strange reason all the people writing on blogging seem to want to equate The New York Times newspaper with something obscure like my friends myspace account, or even, my own blog. (how’s that for self referential!) and then passing it off that both of our blogs somehow try and be objective. that is not the point. there are infact news media out there, like indymedia that try to be media outlets. a personal blog is exactly that, a personal account, it is not aimed at being a news story so stop trying to push it into being one.

Equating these two is a kin to equating apples and pears. just doesn’t work man.

and next time someone writes so condescendingly about blogs, trying to explain the whole concept in the first half of the article with “it’s like a diary, just online!”, rather just leave it and publish it online.  //rant

Stilte
